We serve a population of over 250,000 and feature two hospitals, two urgent cares, an emergent care center, outpatient services and a provider network with 19 regional locations. Summary As a part of a surgery team, under the supervision of a Charge RN, Supervisor, or Nurse Manager, assists in providing optimal preparation and care of the surgical patient in accordance with patient needs, physician order, CTRH policy and standards of patient care and cross -trains to perform Endoscopy Technician duties as needed to ensure effective departmental coverage and continuity of care.
Qualifications Required: Completion of accredited surgical technologist training program OR three (3) year of surgical technician experience, including successful completion of introductory requirements and competencies. Surgical Technician certification is required and maintained, if eligible to certify. If on the job trained must have worked continuously as a scrub tech since prior to 1/1/2018.
If certification has lapsed, applicant has 180 days to re-certify. If hired after 01/01/2018 and not certified, must successfully complete not less than 15 hours annually continuing education for surgical technologist. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers Note: A health care facility may employ a person who does not possess the qualifications prescribed by subsection 1 to engage in the practice of surgical technology at the health care facility if, after conducting a thorough and diligent search, the health care facility is unable to employ a sufficient number of surgical technologists who possess such qualifications.
A health care facility may continue to employ such a person after the health care facility determines it is able to employ a sufficient number of surgical technologists who possess such qualifications.
