Certifications
✓Incumbent must hold and maintain the Certified Surgical Technologist credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, (formerly LCC-ST).
✓If not certified, evidence of continuous employment in the state of South Carolina as a Surgical Technologist before January 1, 2008 is required.
✓New graduates must obtain certification within 90 days of graduation. <6 months experience.
✓Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire.
✓Thereafter, must maintain a Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

✓Graduation from an accredited school of surgical technology or surgical technology military program.

About the role

Under general supervision, the Certified Surgical Technologist follows established procedural guides in the preparation of sterile supplies and equipment used in the surgical procedures, performs appropriate room duties involved with direct patient care, and functions autonomously as a member of the operating room team.
