You’ll need
Certifications
✓Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required within one year of hire date and maintained thereafter.
✓Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
✓Surgical Technologists hired at the following locations prior to the identified dates, are not required to have a Surgical Technology certification through NBSTSA:
✓Mayo Clinic in Arizona hires prior to 11/20/2024.
✓Qualifications and Additional Responsibilities for Advanced Surgical Technologist
✓Manage and maintain advanced specialty instrumentation and equipment.
✓Contribute to protocol and workflow development for new procedures and technologies.
✓Works flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call expectations.
Education
✓Graduation from an accredited or military surgical technology program.
Qualifications
✓Minimum 2+ years of independent scrubbing experience.
✓Demonstrates the ability to be prepared to handle emergencies that may include quick thinking, adaptability, and solid skills to implement emergency protocols.
✓Internal applicants currently employed by Mayo Clinic are required to attach their three most recent performance appraisals. If less than three completed, please attach as many as are available.
1 year of surgical tech experience is preferred.

About the role
The Surgical Technologist provides safe and efficient care to the surgical patient under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in collaboration with the surgeon. The Surgical Technologist functions primarily in the scrub role and is responsible for selecting, preparing, and maintaining instrumentation, equipment, and supplies.
