Founded in 1921, Straub Benioff Medical Center includes a 159-bed hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai'i. Straub is home to the Pacific Region’s only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. Our Perioperative Services department provides full support throughout the duration of a patient's surgical procedure, spanning ward admission, anesthesia, surgery and recovery.
Professional care services include identification of the patient’s individual needs, patient care plan development and implementation and the coordination of nursing service to restore each patient’s health before, during and after a surgical procedure. As the Surgical Technologist, Open Heart, you will perform assigned open heart surgical scrub duties and maintain sterile techniques for all open heart surgical procedures.
In this role, you will prepare the operating room, equipment, and instruments for open heart surgery while maintaining aseptic techniques. Location: Straub Benioff Medical Center Work

Post high school vocational training. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification. Current Surgical Technologist certification with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) OR Surgical Technologist certification with the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
Completion of an accredited surgical technologist training program. Two (2) years of work experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist. Must be competent in assisting with basic adult cardiac surgery, as determined by the surgeons.
One (1) year experience of complex procedures (i.e. trauma, transplants).
