Learn About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech: Responsibilities The Certified Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting the surgeon in the sterile field according to AORN Standards of Practice Recommendations. Performs scrub duties in varied specialties/procedures. Ensures that the case has the necessary sterile supplies and equipment for that surgeon and procedure.

Assists with circulating duties under the direct supervision of the RN circulator assigned to the patient. Ensure adherence to Hospital, State, and departmental policies and procedures. Qualifications Job

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT – Certification. Annually complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified to practice as a surgical technologist in the State of NJ.
