Certifications
✓Must obtain Adult, Child, & Infant CPR, and First Aid at hire, or within 30 days of hire.
✓Must apply for credentials through INCCRRA at hire or within 90 days of hire.
Education
✓An undergraduate degree or higher from an accredited College or University or at least 6 semester hours in courses directly related to child care and/or child development from birth to age six required.
Qualifications
✓Minimum of one year of directly related experience working with children under six years of age required.
✓Must obtain Food Handlers class, SIDS, SBS, Mandated Reporter class at hire or within 30 days of hire.
✓Must obtain Illinois Gateways Membership at hire or within 30 days of hire.
✓Must obtain Introduction to Environmental Rating scale class within the first year of hire.
✓Must maintain thirty (30) clock hours of job-related continuing education in the first year of employment and at least twenty-four (24) clock hours of job-related continuing education each year after.
✓Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
✓Demonstrates the ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
✓Demonstrates the knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on assigned unit.
✓Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served.
✓Able to assess and interpret data about the child’s status in order to identify each child’s needs and provide the appropriate care, including age-related care, needed by the pediatric patient group.
