Website: sthsclinics.com The Vascular/Echocardiography Technician is responsible for the independent operation of echocardiography and/or vascular ultrasound equipment within the clinic, performing high quality diagnostic examinations and effectively communicating critical findings to the interpreting physician.
At STHS Clinics, Cardiology we are proud to be the first in the Rio Grande Valley to implement dedicated one-hour time slots for complete echocardiogram studies, a standard established in 2025. This model reflects our commitment to quality driven imaging, allowing for comprehensive examinations that support accurate interpretation and improved patient outcomes. In addition, we emphasize workplace ergonomics to support staff longevity and performance.
Our department utilizes specialized echocardiography and vascular beds and chairs designed to reduce physical strain and promote safe scanning practices. The technician is expected to uphold the highest standards following IAC/ASE/ACR daily compliance, demonstrate self-motivation in professional growth, and maintain a positive, collaborative approach when interacting with physicians, sonographers, advanced practice providers, and all clinic staff.
At all times, technicians must provide courteous, respectful, and patient-centered care to patients and their families, ensuring a professional and supportive clinical environment. Job Duties/Responsibilities: Operating specialized ultrasound equipment to create images of the heart (Echocardiography) and vascular system (arteries/veins). Preparing patients for exams, explaining procedures, and reviewing medical history.
Operating ultrasound equipment to perform diagnostic exams, such as carotid artery, peripheral vascular, and echocardiograms of the heart chambers and valves. Analyzing images to detect anomalies like blood clots, blockages, or aneurysm, and preparing preliminary reports. Schedule book for 8 to 10 patients per day.

Graduate of a Cardiovascular Technology program College level courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology preferred. Professional certification/registry is required. All sonographers must be credentialed as required by ICAEL.
ARDMS registry and/or if registry eligible must complete registry within 1 year of employment CCI registry and/or if registry eligible must complete registry within 1 year of employment Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in providing Vascular and/or Echo procedures in a healthcare environment is required.
