Certifications
✓Required: Must successfully complete an EKG/Dysrhythmia course within 90 days of hire and within 6 months of hire, must attend unit-based courses relative to specialized area.
Education
✓GED or High School Diploma
PCA, Medic Corpsman, or a nursing student having completed the first clinical rotation successfully preferred
Qualifications
✓Less than one year of related experience
One year or more working in a healthcare environment as a monitor technician preferred
Necessary Skills preferred
Basic medical terminology preferred
Knowledge of standard precautions, recognizing obvious job related emergencies preferred
An awareness of ethical and legal responsibilities as they relate to the job preferred
Ability to read EKG arrhythmias preferred
Demonstrates the essential knowledge necessary to effectively monitor patients for seizure activity connected to an Epilepsy Monitor (EMU) preferred

What you’ll do
In this the roleIn this the role the Monitor Technician/Epilepsy Monitoring (EMU) will perform the following job duties:
Continuously monitors EKG rhythmsContinuously monitors EKG rhythms
Immediately notifies the nurseImmediately notifies the nurse of pertinent changes in the patient's heart rate and rhythm
Produces rhythm strips forProduces rhythm strips for telemetry patients
Inventories and maintains equipmentInventories and maintains equipment for both the main monitor bank and individual patient units
