Using specialized skills in assessment, planning and treatment, the Rehabilitation Clinical Specialist provides therapeutic interventions to prevent dysfunction, restore function and/or reverse the progression of pathology in order to enhance an individual’s ability to execute tasks. They serve as the subject matter expert and as a consultant to peers and other medical center staff in evaluating and treating patients within their specialty area of Therapy.
Evaluates patients with specialty diagnoses thoroughly identifying impairments, functional limitations and disabilities. May also treat patients outside of the area of specialty if volume dictates. Reviews physician referral, patient’s condition, and medical history to determine therapy treatment needs.
Performs and documents patient evaluation, re-evaluation and develops treatment and discharge plans. Plans and administers medically prescribed therapy treatments to patients. Reviews progress and modifies treatment goals and plan of care as appropriate while maintaining accurate and concise records on treatment provided and patients’ progress Instructs patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
Responsible for overall management of patient cases including communication and coordination of care with treatment team. Bachelor’s degree (typically in biology, kinesiology, or health sciences, communication) and Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or Master's degree in Physical Therapy (DPT) or Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy or Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD Required Licensing &

- Five years of experience in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy or Speech Language Pathology (required) Two years of direct experience in area of specialty (required) Skills & Abilities: Demonstrates appropriate application of age specific standards, policies and procedures and guidelines in caring for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients Demonstrates general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
