Licensure
✓Current State of Texas license/permit to practice professional nursing
Certifications
✓PALS or the Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC).
✓Maintains current Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Course for Nurses (ATCN), and
Education
✓Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing; Bachelors degree or educational plan to complete degree.
Qualifications
✓Five (5) years of clinical trauma care in the hospital setting and three (3) of progressive supervisory/management experience, and
✓Within 60 days of hire, completion of a trauma performance improvement course approved by the department, and
✓Within 6 months of hire, completion of Advancement of Automotive Medicine (AAAM) Injury Scaling Course, and
✓Renew the trauma performance improvement course either every 4 years or when a new version is released, and
✓Complete 36 hours of trauma related continuing education (CE) tri-annually.
✓A course specific to the Trauma Program Manager role is recommended.
✓Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to work both independently, and in collaboration with groups.
✓Knowledge of computer software including: word, excel, power-point and outlook programs.
✓Understanding of trauma scoring scales to include AIS and ISS.
✓Principal Accountabilities
✓Accountable for overseeing the operations of the Trauma department.
✓Holds current membership in a national or regional trauma organization.
✓Demonstrates evidence of participation in trauma committees at the Memorial Hermann System level and the Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council level. Participation in state and national trauma organizations is strongly encouraged.
✓Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.

About the role

The Manager of Trauma Program works collaboratively with key stakeholders including process owners, organization leaders and physicians. They are responsible for trauma related performance improvement, injury prevention, education, research, outreach and trauma registry operations. This individual also must be able to synthesize and quantify relevant trauma data for quality improvement.
