PRIMARY FUNCTION The Ultrasound Technologist, under the direction of the Medical Director and the Director of Radiology, performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate and record critical physiological, pathological, and anatomical data. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Produces ultrasound images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems Monitors and ensures safety of patient and staff Performs patient screening by using established protocols Utilizes departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment and in all functions of the job Provides complete pre and post exam education to patients and family DESIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Graduate from an accredited school of sonography or completion of an ultrasound program.
American Registry of Diagnostic Sonography Registry, Active and unrestricted A. R. D.
M. S certification OR CCI-RCS, 1 Specialty Registries, Basic Life Support, BLS – HCP Exhibits working knowledge of all Ultrasound equipment and procedures. Refers to physician orders/chart for any special instructions that may be indicated.
Routinely questions the patient before procedure to obtain patient history. Explains procedures completely to facilitate cooperation and alleviate anxiety. Performs all procedures in an efficient and timely manner without compromising quality or the mission statement.
Coordinates Ultrasound schedule with other areas to prevent patient waiting.
