Virtual Safety Assistant - Virtual Care

The Virtual Safety Assistant (VSA) works onsite in a dedicated Virtual Care Bunker to provide continuous remote observation and safety monitoring for hospitalized patients using audio/video technology. The VSA is responsible for simultaneous monitoring to proactively identify safety risks and escalate concerns to bedside staff according to defined protocols. This role plays a critical part in fall prevention, self‑harm prevention, and overall patient safety.

Works with the nursing staff to maintain a safe environment according to organizational standards and policies. Maintains constant visual awareness of assigned patients and prioritizes attention based on acuity and risk level. Continuous monitoring of assigned patients via live video and audio feeds for safety risks, including but not limited to: Falls or unsafe mobility attempts Line/tube dislodgment Self-harm or high-risk behaviors Confusion, agitation, or elopement risks Promptly notifies bedside nursing staff or designated care team members when safety concerns are observed.

Participates in handoff communication at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure continuity of monitoring. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies. Immediately reports equipment issues or malfunctions to appropriate technical support teams.

Skills and Attributes: Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience No experience required. Education High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher preferred. Licensure/Certification/Registration BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position Organizational
