I would expect the traveler coming in has at least 2 solid years of CVICU experience (prefer more) with continuing to travel having ICU assignments and can take care of these patients without issue right off the bat. We cannot train for our equipment and patient population. They must be able to pick up right away.

Must be able to work at a fast paced. Must be able to interpret strips. Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, communication, organization, teamwork, compassion, ability to follow protocols and orders as written, motivation, ability to work in a fast paced, high stress environment, compassion, time management, positive attitude and behavior.

  • Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) Shifts are 12hrs (7a-7p or 7p-7a). It is not self scheduling for non AHU Mission Partners, no blocking.
  • Weekend Requirements Every other weekend. Dayshift weekends are Saturday, Sunday. Nightshift weekends are Friday, Saturday.
  • Holiday Requirements Yes, every other
  • Floating Requirements Float to every level of care. Travelers are expected to take a full team
  • Scrub Color/Dress Code No particular color scrubs, however must be appropriate in appearance-not too tight, not falling off, clean. We do not provide scrubs.
  • Additional Notes Our unit needs someone who is proficient in all cardiovascular ICU components with the exception of immediate post op (would be a bonus if they did), VAD and transplant. We utilize swans, CVC, and art lines daily on majority of our patients. We utilize temporary pacemakers on a lot of our patients. We get multiple EP patients. We have IABPs. We titrate multiple drips frequently. We have a lot of ventilated patients. All of these items could be on one patient and sometimes two of these in one assignment.
