Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Skills and

Successful completion of the academic requirements of an educational program for the occupational therapy assistant recognized by the Board of Occupational Therapy Practice. Such program shall be accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association’s Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education, or its successorMust be licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in the state of New YorkMember of state and national American Occupational Therapy Association, preferredProfessional attitude and appearanceProficient administrative and public relations skillsThorough knowledge of the principles, methods, materials and equipment used in occupational therapyThorough knowledge of the possible hazards to patients during treatment and necessary precautionary and remedial measuresTraining in the use of prescriptive devices (electrical stimulation, ultrasound), preferredAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and to obtain their cooperation in the treatment prescribedAbility to establish and maintain effective relationships with the medical staff and other personnelDemonstrate emotional stability in order to cope with the demands of both patients and employeesMust maintain patient and employee confidentialityKnowledge of Medicare and third party reimbursement, preferredExperience is preferred, however we are accepting new grads.
