Prepare the OR, instruments, equipment, and supplies for scheduled proceduresSet up and maintain sterile fields throughout surgical casesPerform surgical hand scrubs and properly don sterile attire and glovesAnticipate the needs of surgeons and the surgical team throughout proceduresPass instruments, sutures, sponges, suction, electrosurgical equipment, and other suppliesMaintain strict sterile and aseptic technique and follow infection-control standardsProperly identify, handle, and prepare surgical specimensAssist with sterile dressing application and completion of proceduresAssist with OR turnover, case preparation, and terminal cleaningClean, process, sterilize, and properly store surgical instruments and equipmentMaintain inventory and assist with stocking surgical suppliesFollow OSHA, PPE, infection prevention, and patient-safety standardsSupport the orientation and training of new staff and students as neededParticipate in quality improvement activities, staff meetings, and required trainingMaintain patient confidentiality and professional standards at all timesSurgical EnvironmentYou may support a variety of surgical cases, including:Orthopedic proceduresPlastic surgeryLaser proceduresLocal proceduresOther outpatient surgical casesWhat We're Looking ForHigh school diploma or equivalentGraduate of an accredited Surgical Technology programCertified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferredCurrent CPR certification requiredStrong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and OR proceduresExcellent communication and teamwork skillsAbility to anticipate the needs of the surgical teamStrong organization and attention to detailAbility to stay calm and effective in a fast-paced surgical environmentAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionCommitment to patient safety and quality carePhysical RequirementsThis role requires the ability to:Stand for extended periods during surgical proceduresLift, move, and transport patients as neededLift and transport instrument trays and equipment weighing up to approximately 40 lbs.
