- Primary
- Settles and orients patient to room and unit. Takes valuables to the safe according to policy.
- Provides and/or assists patients when indicated with bathing and grooming.
- Reports the need for assistive devices to the team leader, i.e., glasses, hearing aid, cane, walker, etc. Changes the patients position as ordered, moving joints within safe range of motion and observes skin integrity. Reports any changes to the team leader.
- Transfers, transports and ambulates patients using correct technique and devices.
- Provides for adequate rest and uses relaxation measures.
- Distributes and collects food trays as needed; feeds the patient and/or assists the patient if indicated.
- Accurately records and reports intake and output. Provides privacy for elimination; empties emesis basin, bedpan, urinal and/or commode promptly and provides for incontinence care.
- Practices infection control including standard precautions, isolation procedures and hand washing.
- Talks with and listens to patients and families, recognizing and reporting pertinent information.
- Responds to patient lights promptly.
- ALV is a critical access hospital with 16 beds- 4 in trauma and 3 in urgent care. Usually, we have 1 CNA per shift, so current patient to CNA ratios is 1:10, but could vary based on census.

This is an Aspirus policy, and compliance is mandatory (No exceptions). Failure to follow the policy may result in corrective action.
