Full employer posting

This CT technologist travel opportunity is based in Birmingham, Alabama, a thriving Southern city known for its rich history, revitalized downtown, and welcoming community atmosphere. Birmingham offers a blend of urban amenities and natural beauty, with rolling hills, tree-lined neighborhoods, and an ever-growing selection of restaurants, coffee shops, and entertainment venues. You can explore the historic Civil Rights District, enjoy live performances at restored theaters, and take advantage of nearby outdoor escapes like Red Mountain Park and Ruffner Mountain for hiking and scenic views.

The assignment is within a modern healthcare environment that supports advanced diagnostic imaging and high-quality patient care. As a CT technologist, you will work with Philips CT systems in a fast-paced imaging department that collaborates closely with emergency medicine, inpatient services, and outpatient clinics. You will be responsible for performing a wide range of CT procedures, including routine, contrast-enhanced, and advanced studies according to established protocols.

Typical responsibilities include preparing and positioning patients for CT exams, verifying physician orders and protocol selection, managing contrast administration per facility policy, and ensuring image quality for accurate interpretation. You will document in the EMR, manage worklists through PACS, and communicate with providers, nurses, and other technologists to ensure efficient patient throughput and excellent service.

A typical day may include a mix of scheduled outpatient exams and add-on inpatient or emergency cases, requiring flexibility, strong prioritization skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Patient volumes and ratios are consistent with a busy regional center, and you can expect to support adult and potentially pediatric patients, depending on the specific unit. Shifts may include 8, 10, or 12-hour schedules, with the possibility of evening, night, or weekend coverage.

Travelers frequently find Birmingham assignments appealing due to the city’s manageable size, accessible commute times, and vibrant local culture, including festivals, live music, local sports, and a renowned food scene that highlights Southern and modern cuisine. This role provides an excellent opportunity to strengthen your travel technologist portfolio by working in a high-functioning imaging department with Philips CT technology.

You will gain valuable experience with diverse case mixes, collaborate with a supportive multidisciplinary team, and contribute meaningfully to patient care in a city that combines history, hospitality, and ongoing growth.
