- Minimum: 18 months of Surgical Tech experience
- Preferred: 2–3+ years
- Required: Strong Cardiac OR (CVOR) and Vascular experience
- Must be comfortable taking cardiac call and independently working in the CVOR setup.
- BLS: Required
- NBSTSA or NCCT: Preferred, but not required Responsibility:
- Prepare the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) before procedures by ensuring instruments, supplies, and equipment are available and sterile.
- Scrub and assist surgeons during open-heart, vascular, and other cardiac surgical procedures.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the operation and follow infection control protocols.
- Anticipate the surgeon's needs by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies efficiently during procedures.
- Prepare and operate specialized cardiac surgical equipment as needed.
- Participate in the cardiac call rotation and respond promptly when called in for emergency or scheduled cardiac cases.
- Assist with non-cardiac surgical cases when there are no CVOR procedures scheduled.
- Perform instrument counts before, during, and after surgery to ensure patient safety.
