– HIM Data Analyst POSITION DUTIES – Answers multiple telephone lines in a friendly, courteous manner. Responds to questions or reroutes as necessary, with efforts to minimize hold times. Clearly communicates with all customers and staff.
Provides accurate information and uses active listening skills. Notifies patients, legal services and other requestors of charges and time frames. Collects all appropriate fees for copies of medical records.
Processes incomplete or otherwise invalid requests. Facilitates completion of a valid authorization. Avoids send backs without resolution efforts.
Maintains current knowledge of federal, state regulations, and laws regarding release of information, and completion of death certificates. Secures a complete and valid authorization to include special authorization such as mental health and HIV. Secures other necessary documentation when a complete authorization is not needed.
Identifies information to be released adhering to regulations, policies, and minimum necessary guidelines. Reviews the record for sensitive materials prior to release. Identifies misfiles before the documents are printed or otherwise processed.
Confirms receipt of faxed records. Processes subpoenas, court orders, warrants and other legal documents. Verifies validity of subpoena and confirms the notice to consumer requirements have been met.
Acts as designee of the Custodian of Records in depositions when summoned to appear in court and when submitting declarations. Provide Certificate of No Record (CNR) when applicable.
