Responsibilities Provide care to high-risk obstetric patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity L&D unit. Assist with high-risk and routine vaginal deliveries and C-sections. Perform C-section circulating duties.
Serve as the baby nurse during delivery and provide newborn care until transfer to postpartum. Perform newborn assessments, administer vitamin K injections and eye prophylaxis, and provide care to the newborn's thighs as required by protocol. Monitor fetal heart rates and provide electronic fetal monitoring.
Manage obstetric emergencies, including postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension. Administer medications and treatments, including magnesium sulfate, insulin, Pitocin, and terbutaline. Float to postpartum, antepartum, or other nearby campuses as needed, within applicable competencies
