Labor and Delivery (RN)

(List Format):

• Monitor maternal vital signs and contractions; interpret electronic fetal heart rate patterns for early detection of distress.
• Administer IV fluids, medications, and various pain management options, including epidurals.
• Provide labor and delivery support by coaching patients, assisting with positioning, and supporting obstetricians/midwives during births.
• Prepare delivery and operating rooms; assist with patient preparation for emergency or scheduled C-sections; participate in neonatal resuscitation and critical interventions.
• Deliver immediate postpartum care by monitoring maternal recovery and assessing newborn health, encouraging skin-to-skin contact, and initiating early breastfeeding.
• Educate and support patients and families on newborn care, infant feeding, and postpartum recovery, offering emotional reassurance.
• Accurately document medical care in electronic health records and communicate effectively with the care team during shift handoffs.
