Facility - St. Marks Hospital Start Date- asap Cost Center - 771 Unit - ER LAB/ Taylorsville (FSED) Position -Medical Lab Scientist

  • 7 on/7off DAYS 7:00AM - 5:30PM Position - Med Tech for Point of Care Testing Willing to Perform Clerical duties as assigned by Nursing and Lab Director in support of FSED operations Assignment Length - 13 weeks - Can offer 26 weeks if candidate is interested Location: Taylorsville FSED Floor: N/A Building: N/A General Information Tell us about the unit(s):
  • Number of Beds - 10 treatement rooms
  • Number of Staff - 8 Lab Technologist
  • Shift for the Traveler --- 7 on/off, 10 hrs per day, 7 AM - 5:30 PM
  • Type of staff: o Day Shift - 1 MLS/MLT o Night Shift - 1 MLS/MLT
  • Patient Ratios - N/A
  • Type of equipment - Siemens Dimension EXL, Sysmex 1000, Roche Clineteck, Werfen Top 300, Quidel Triage, Siemens ePOC, Abbott iSTAT, Veritor FLU, Quidel SOFIA COVID-19, Aerospray stainer
  • EMR - EPIC
  • On Call Requirements No on call requirements, but there are plenty of oppurtunities to get more hours on 7 off week if desired.
  • Weekend
  • Every other weekend Typical hiring profile Skill Set Most recruited for: Must have : candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role.
  • Certified MLS or MLT through ASCP or equivalent - MUST HAVE FULL LICENSE- NOT ASSOCIATES
  • At least 2 years working in a Hospital Laboratory environment as an MLT or MLS Preferred or nice to have : candidates with these skills will be considered first.
  • Experience with EPIC
  • Some experience with analyzers listed above List typical procedures performed on unit(s):
  • Daily maintenance, QC, calibrations on analyzers and patient testing. This includes waived and nonwaived tests.
  • Specimen processing including ordering tests, centrifuging specimens, preparing send outs for transport as needed, stalking lab supplies, and routine cleaning of lab surfaces. Best personality Fit:
  • One who can work and communicate professionally with both lab and non-lab individuals. For the most part this person works by themselves, but they do have to interface with the clinical staff of the ED. REQUIRED
  • MLS or MLT certification through ASCP Floating Area(s):

  • Scrub Color/Attire - Scrub, pewter in color (color is not as important for traveler). Lab coat will be provided. Unit Guidelines/Policies : Please feel free to attach unit policies and guidelines.
  • Adherence to standard lab safety protocol as required by CLIA and CAP are required.
