Med Surg (RN)

(List Format):

• Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team, providing and managing patient care using professional/clinical knowledge.
• Care for patients primarily in Med Surg and Oncology units; patient types include orthopedic, urology, general surgery, oncology, and medical cases.
• Utilize EPIC EMR system for documentation.
• Required to work 36-40 hours/week (OT billable after 40), or 48 hours/week (OT billable after 48).
• Participate in orientation (dates: 10/26, 11/9).
• Required to work 2 of the 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day); limited time off requests during holiday periods.
• Administer drips including Heparin, PCA, and epidural; chemo if certified.
• Must be able to float within discipline across local campuses as needed.
• Required to wear navy blue scrubs.
• May be eligible for charge/precept ($6/hr), on-call ($9/hr), and call back pay (1.5x multiplier, 2-hour minimum).
• No local candidates; must live at least 50 miles from the facility.
• Must have at least 2 years of Med Surg and/or Oncology experience; high-acuity care experience preferred.
• First-time travelers accepted; previous travel experience preferred.
• Must provide work history, Med Surg-specific skills checklist, 1 supervisory reference within last 2 years, active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications, and a valid driver’s license.
• Iowa state license required (compact allowed).
• Facility is a Level 3 Trauma Center (UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s, Sioux City, IA).
• Employee separation policy: Former FTE/PRN employees of UPH float pool ineligible for travel roles in another market within 12 months; does not apply to previous UPH travelers.
