$1,666 - $1,754

08:00-16:30, 8 Hours Start Date: 11/02/2026 Duration: 13 weeks Number of Openings: 1 YOUR ALMA, MICHIGAN ASSIGNMENT STARTS HERE! Looking for a travel assignment where small-town Michigan charm, riverfront trails, college-town energy, fall colors, and easy road trips across the Lower Peninsula are all within reach? This opportunity is located in Alma, MI, which sits near the center of Michigan's Lower Peninsula at US-127 and M-46, making it a surprisingly convenient home base for exploring both sides of the state.

Downtown Alma & Alma Riverwalk - roughly 1-2 miles / ~5 min. Spend an evening exploring Alma's walkable downtown, local restaurants, and shops, then follow the nearly 2.5-mile Riverwalk along the Pine River. The trail links downtown with several city parks and connects directly to the Fred Meijer Heartland Trail.

Alma College - roughly 2 miles / ~5 min. Explore the beautiful 100-acre campus of Alma College, located only about a block and a half from downtown. The college brings arts, athletics, performances, and its distinctive Scottish heritage to this small Michigan community.

Pine River Park & Conservation Park - roughly 2 miles / ~5-10 min. Trade your scrubs for some fresh air with walking trails, river access, fishing, picnicking, a boat launch, and nearby mountain-bike trails along the Pine River. The city maintains a network of parks throughout Alma for easy outdoor escapes between shifts.

Fred Meijer Heartland Trail - roughly 2 miles / ~5-10 min. Hop onto a paved rail-trail stretching through the central Michigan countryside toward Greenville. The trail is open year-round for non-motorized recreation and connects directly into Alma's Riverwalk system.

Alma Highland Festival & Games - right in Alma. If your assignment overlaps Memorial Day weekend, Alma transforms for its signature celebration of Scottish heritage with music, Highland dancing, athletic competitions, and parades - fitting for the home of the Alma College Scots. BUT HERE'S THE REAL SELLING POINT: Mount Pleasant, MI - ~19 miles / ~20-25 min.

Head north for Central Michigan University, restaurants, shopping, entertainment, and the Mount Pleasant area's nightlife and recreation. It's only about 19 driving miles from Alma. Lansing, MI - ~50-53 miles / ~55 min.

Spend a day exploring Michigan's capital, museums, restaurants, shopping, nightlife, Michigan State University in nearby East Lansing, and major sporting events. Grand Rapids, MI - ~80 miles / ~1 hr 30 min. Head west for museums, restaurants, breweries, concerts, shopping, nightlife, and one of Michigan's liveliest downtowns - with Lake Michigan beach towns just beyond it.

Detroit, MI - ~138 miles / ~2 hrs. Turn a longer day off into a Detroit adventure with professional sports, concerts, museums, waterfront attractions, restaurants, historic neighborhoods, and big-city entertainment. Traverse City, MI - ~126-129 miles / ~2 hr 25 min.

Make a weekend of northern Michigan with Grand Traverse Bay, beaches, wineries, restaurants, scenic drives, and easy access to some of the state's most beautiful lake-country scenery. Finish your shift and the heart of Michigan is yours to explore! Spend your evenings strolling Downtown Alma, walking the Pine River, biking the Fred Meijer Heartland Trail, or enjoying the college-town atmosphere.

When your days off arrive, Mount Pleasant, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Detroit, and Traverse City are all within road-trip distance. This travel assignment puts you right in the middle of Michigan - with city adventures, lake country, trails, and classic Midwest scenery in every direction! GLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
