5x8 day shifts, 06:45-15:15 Shift Duration: 8 hours Shifts Per Week: 5 Hours Per Week: 40 On-Call: Approximately 1 shift per week Weekend Requirement: Weekend coverage required Charting System: Cerner Rooms: 23 operating rooms Orientation: 40 hours Job Requirements Minimum 3 years of operating room RN experience required Current Illinois RN license required BLS required CNOR required Travel nurse experience required Level I trauma experience required Strong general OR and trauma background required Experience supporting complex surgical case types preferred, including general surgery, neurology, orthopedics, plastics, transplant, urology, and trauma Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume surgical environment Must be comfortable with on-call and weekend expectations Cerner experience preferred Responsibilities Provide skilled perioperative nursing care in the operating room Support a wide range of surgical services across all service lines except cardiovascular Circulate and assist with complex surgical procedures while maintaining patient safety and sterile technique Support trauma and emergency cases as needed in a high-acuity setting Prepare the OR environment, equipment, and supplies for procedures Maintain infection control, radiation safety, and universal protocol standards Handle specimens, blood products, and patient care documentation accurately Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to ensure efficient case flow Respond effectively to urgent situations, including code response and special safety precautions Contribute to excellent patient outcomes in a busy acute care surgical environment Why This Travel OR Nurse Role?
