Contract details

Under the supervision of licensed Rehab Therapists and Rehab Therapy Assistants, the Rehab Therapy Technician (RTT) provides both direct and indirect support to patients receiving rehabilitation services. Responsibilities include assisting with patient preparation, transport, restorative therapy follow-through, and treatment session activities as directed by the therapist. The RTT also maintains and prepares treatment areas, stocks equipment and supplies, disinfects items, and ensures safe and orderly workspaces.

The role requires strong interpersonal skills, a patient-centered approach, and adherence to hospital policies, safety standards, and the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Supports therapists during treatment, helps position or prepare patients, and assists with restorative therapy activities as directed. Moves patients to and from therapy sessions following safe lifting, transfer, and mobility guidelines. Stocks supplies, sets up needed equipment, disinfects items, and maintains clean, safe, and organized therapy spaces.

Observes patient responses during treatment, reports changes to licensed staff, and responds appropriately to emergent situations. Follows hospital protocols for disinfecting equipment, handling bodily fluids, and adhering to Level 1 OSHA bloodborne pathogen guidelines. Provides accurate updates to therapists, reports patient issues immediately, and maintains respectful communication with all customers.

Records daily patient encounters or charges when assigned and submits documentation in a timely manner. Assists other team members, adapts to shifting priorities, and contributes to achieving shared patient care goals. Attends required training, participates in in-services, mentors new RTTs when requested, and maintains BLS certification.

High School Diploma or GEDBasic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certificationRequires strong interpersonal and communication skills, a consistently positive attitude, and a genuine desire to help others, with prior experience in a healthcare setting.
