PACU Registered Nurse

Registered Nurse, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Madison, WI. The Registered Nurse will provide independent peri-anesthetic care for adult patients across a complex and varied surgical population in a post-anesthesia setting. The role requires critical care experience, preoperative and postoperative experience, and availability for occasional weekend on-call coverage.

Job Details Required

Registered Nurse license; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications; critical care experience; preoperative and postoperative experience with varied surgical patient populations; at least two years of acute care experience within the last three years in the specialty being submitted.

Experience in a Level I trauma setting and strong intensive care unit or post-anesthesia care experience.

Day/evening shifts of 10 hours, Monday through Friday, with a minimum of 40 hours per week. Weekend on-call coverage may be required, including approximately one to two weekend call shifts during the assignment. Additional Information: The Registered Nurse will manage patients independently throughout the peri-anesthetic period, establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families, and care for varied surgical populations including transplant, orthopedic, ophthalmology, plastic surgery, ear, nose, and throat, trauma, neurosurgery, thoracic, vascular, urology, general surgery, surgical oncology, and interventional procedures.

A telemetry assessment is required before clearance to begin, with strict passing criteria.
