PCU - Progressive Care Unit (RN)

• Unit Information: 631/ East Progressive Unit Location: LewisGale Medical Center Floor: 3rd floor Building: Main Campus Salem General Information Tell us about the unit(s):
• Number of Beds – 15 beds
• Number of Staff – 22 (RN/PCT)
• Type of staff: o Day Shift – 3-4RN, 2 PCT, 1 Clinical Coordinator o Night Shift – 3-4 RN 1 PCT
• Patient Ratios – 4-5/1
• Type of equipment – Cardiac Telemetry, Chest tubes, Cardiac drips(NTG, Cardizem, Amiodarone), Post Cath Patients, post-surgical patients to include open heart, lung patients, general surgery patients, post op orthopedic patients that require cardiac monitoring.
• EMR – Meditech Typical hiring profile Skill Set Most recruited for: Must have : candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role.
• PCU experience
• Knowledge of cardiac rhythms and surgical patients
• Chest tube management, epidurals Preferred or nice to have : candidates with these skills will be considered first.
• Teamwork ability
• Time management with high turnover of patients List typical procedures performed on unit(s):
• Post cardiac cath, EP studies, device placements, groin management, chest tubes , post op surgical patients
• Critical drips, epidurals, PCA Best personality Fit:
• Outgoing, team oriented, willing to go above and beyond for patients REQUIRED

• BLS & ACLS Floating Area(s): • ICU taking PCU type patients, PCU, Med-surg (taking 5 patients)
