San Carlos Apache Healthcare Center is seeking an experienced Lead Pharmacist to support and oversee daily pharmacy operations, staff coordination, medication dispensing, inventory management, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have hospital pharmacy experience, strong pharmacy operations knowledge, and previous experience serving in a lead or supervisory capacity, including oversight of pharmacy technicians.

Lead and oversee daily pharmacy operations to ensure safe, accurate, and timely medication services. Supervise and provide guidance to pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support staff. Support efficient prescription processing, medication dispensing, and pharmacy workflow.

Ensure pharmacy operations comply with applicable professional, regulatory, and governmental standards. Assist with developing, implementing, and evaluating pharmacy policies and procedures. Monitor operational and quality measures and identify opportunities for continuous process improvement.

Support medication safety, quality assurance, and error-prevention initiatives. Oversee pharmacy information and medication dispensing systems to maintain accurate and efficient operations. Assist with pharmaceutical purchasing, inventory management, storage, and availability of medications and related supplies.

Provide staff training, orientation, education, and ongoing professional development support. Identify training needs and assist staff in maintaining required competencies. Prepare and review operational reports and communicate areas of concern or improvement.

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, healthcare professionals, and pharmacy staff to support quality patient care. Participate in departmental and hospital educational programs, meetings, and quality initiatives. Perform additional pharmacy duties as assigned.

Required

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited school of pharmacy. PharmD preferred; PGY1 residency preferred. Minimum 2 years of pharmacist experience.

Hospital pharmacy experience required, with at least 2 years preferred. Previous lead, supervisory, or pharmacy technician operations experience preferred. Current and active unrestricted Pharmacist license.

Arizona Pharmacist license preferred. Current BLS (AHA) certification or ability to obtain within the required timeframe. Immunization/vaccine administration authorization preferred.

Must successfully pass required background and drug screening. Preferred Candidate Profile:Experienced pharmacist with a strong hospital pharmacy background. Previous experience as a Lead Pharmacist, Pharmacy Supervisor, or Pharmacy Operations Lead.

Experience supervising and supporting pharmacy technicians. Strong knowledge of pharmacy workflow, medication safety, inventory, dispensing systems, and regulatory compliance. Flexible and comfortable working 8- or 10-hour shifts based on facility requirements.

Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Local candidates are preferred, with potential for future full-time opportunities based on facility needs.
