A Brief OverviewThe Physical Therapist evaluates, plans, and administers individualized treatment programs to support patients with various cognitive and physical disabilities in achieving their highest level of functional independence. Care delivery is guided by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) standards, ensuring age-appropriate and patient-centered treatment. All responsibilities are carried out in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital, ensuring a patient-centered approach to care.

Demonstrates the ability to evaluate patients, plan care, provide treatment, assess progress, adjust goals and treatment plans, and make discharge recommendations as per the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) guidelines. Ensures consideration of the age and developmental level of patients in all aspects of care. Demonstrates current knowledge and expertise in patient careResponds to new evaluations within the specific time frame stated in the Policies and Procedures for various areas of work.

Remains alert to changes in patients’ conditions and the work environment, responding appropriately. Provides accurate, timely, and consistent documentation of patient care, patient/family education, and response to care in the medical record. Ensures all patient care goals are measurable and include a specific timeframe for attainment.

For experienced candidates, preference will be given to those with expertise in relevant areas, including but not limited to Hospital-based Rehabilitation, Outpatient Rehabilitation, Pediatric Rehabilitation, and other specialized areas.

Must demonstrate a strong foundation in clinical skills, patient-centered care, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Skills and AbilitiesStrong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and various healthcare information systems.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, applying sound judgment in clinical decision-making.
