This involves taking thorough patient histories, observing behavior, and using diagnostic tools. Care Planning: Developing individualized care plans based on the needs of patients with mental health and behavioral issues.
This includes setting goals, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes. Medication Management: Administering psychiatric medications and monitoring for side effects or adverse reactions. Knowledge of psychotropic medications Must have : Crisis Intervention: Providing immediate, short-term support to patients in crisis (e.g., suicidal ideation, aggression).
This includes de-escalation techniques and appropriate medication management. Advanced skills needed: Therapeutic Communication: Building trust and rapport with patients through effective communication skills, active listening, and empathy. Procedures performed on unit: Monitoring patients for physical and psychological symptoms, including vital signs, mental status changes, and medication effects.
