- Unit Information:
- Beds: 5 MRI rooms (4 in North area, 1 in Main by ER; all at the same hospital)
- Census? Average patients/day? 15-25 per machine, dependent on case load
- Minimum Years of Experience required? 5 years minimum acute care experience
- Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes, send for manager approval for first time traveler
- Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- Neuro, spine, tumor work ups, cord compression, cardiac imaging, breast, biopsies, peds, lots of anesthesia cases, enterography, abdominal, whole body, spectroscopy, ortho
- Required License, National Certification, Certs:
- BLS, ARRT-MR OR ARMRIT, MT state license
- Skills required:
- Experience with above patient types. Anesthesia and peds experience are very important
- GE Experience required
- Preferred - cardiac, breast biopsies, Siemens experience
- Support within the Department:
- Other MRI Techs
- MRI Aides (safety trained)
- Charge Tech - assists with implants reviews and implants workups
- Radiology RN 8h Days - IV starts, monitoring patients, contrast reactions
- Radiologists here, offsite after 2200 reading
- Scheduler to schedule cases
- RT 24/7
- Hospitalist 24/7
- Intensivist 24/7
- Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: Meditech
- PACS: Merge
- Unit specific equipment: 4 GE MRI machines, 1 Siemens MRI Machine
- Floating: If yes, where?
- 2 areas where MRI is at the hospital. Will be assigned to both areas
- Orientation (facility and unit):
- NEO
- Remainder of 1st week will be orienting, will be independent 2nd week
- Scheduling:
- Weekend rotation: Possibility to work weekend if weekend staff is off
- On call? Yes
- 1 weeknight shift of call per week, 1900-0600
- 1 MRI Tech and 1 Aide on call at a time
- 30-minute response time
- Not super often to get called back in, but could stay late if late stragglers
- Holiday Expectations: possibility to work 50% of holidays per contract
- Approval of RTO: to go through manager
- Shift times: Refer to requisition, if working weekdays 0600-1900
- Schedule cycle: set schedule, but could have some variability. Traveler will fill in any gaps in schedule
