Radiology / Cardiology - Radiation Therapist

Radiation Therapists assist in localizing tumors, participate in treatment planning and deliver high doses of ionizing radiation prescribed by radiation oncologist. Radiation therapists are the primary liaison between patients and other members of the radiation oncology team. They also provide a link to other healthcare providers such as social workers and dieticians.

Competencies: Graduate of an approved radiation therapy technology program. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy. Current state certification for Medical Radiation Technologist.

Work requires interpersonal skills to deal effectively with Oncology patients for up to eighty percent of work time. Computer skills for treatment machines. Ability to read and interpret patient images and makes correct decisions on such.

One to three years clinical experience in all modalities as a radiation therapist, through an accredited radiation program
