- Patient Diagnoses: - CVCU provides care to patients 16 years-of-age and older, who have primary cardiac diagnoses, including heart failure, post-cardiac arrest, cardiothoracic (CT) surgery (CABG, Valve repair/replacement, VATS/thoracotomy), IABP therapy, Impella insertion, post PCI, pacemaker insertion, ablation, arrhythmia, STEMI/NSTEMI, EKOS. Blended unit: 12 CVIMCU and 18 CVICU beds
- Special Procedures/Unit Details: - Strong Cardio experience needed CVCU is a blended unit which includes 18 beds designated as cardiovascular intensive care (CVICU) and 12 beds as cardiovascular intermediate care (CVIMCU). Cardiovascular care unit Located on the fifth floor of Building A, the 30-bed (18 dedicated to cardiac intensive care) cardiovascular care unit (CVCU) is a specialty cardiac unit caring for heart failure, surgical cardiac, thoracic and vascular patients, acute coronary syndrome, interventional cardiology and electrophysiology services. The CVCU multidisciplinary team is dedicated to providing excellent patient care to our diverse community. Our Heart Program was one of the nation’s Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospitals in 2020. This is our fifth designation — and third year in a row — to be recognized with this honor. The CVCU has also achieved the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) Silver Beacon Nursing Care Excellence Award between 2013 and 2016, then again in 2019. With a focus on growth and mentoring, our nurses are specialty trained to care for this patient population. Advanced certification is always encouraged and promoted. We also provide a robust training program that covers beginner to advanced cardiovascular intensive care. Including training for the intra-abdominal balloon pump, continuous renal replacement therapy, targeted temperature management and ventricular assist devices.
