This unit sees high acuity patients with oncology, cardiology, transplant history and other ED patient types. There is also non-trauma, small pediatric population and a fair number of psych/behavioral health patients.
In addition, there can be a complex medical population including transplant and VAD patients. EMS also staffs a vertical care area. There are 27 rooms and ability to flex into hallway beds as well as spaces available in vertical care area.
Guaranteed Hours: In the event of low census Healthcare Providers may be called off without charge or placed on-call (for standard on-call rate) in 4 hour increments up to 1 shifts worth of hours in a 2 week cycle. For ambulatory or surgical services areas that are closed on weekends and holidays, Hospitals will not schedule travelers or meet the minimum during these periods.
