Facility: o 874 Licensed beds o Level I Trauma o Teaching Hospital o Chest Pain Center o Stroke Center o Magnet Designated o Radius rule: Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit Unit Information: o Beds: 36 o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years Med/Tele RN exp (Resource Team) o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Not preferred but will consider (Resource Team) Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: o Complex GI Surgeries to include Partial and Total Colectomy, Bowel Resections, Anastomosis, Whipple, Distal Pancreatectomy/Splenectomy, Liver Resection o Trauma Overflow Patient Ratios: o RN: 1:4
6; (surge staffing could increase ratios up to 1:7
8) o CNA: 1:9
12 Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance: o BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement) Skills Required: o Experience with the above-mentioned patients o General Med/Tele skillset: basic cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc), PCA pumps o Medication gtt management to include: Heparin, blood products, IVF, Cardiac drips Support within the Department: o CNA – ratios vary o Receptionist/HUC o Charge nurse, 24/7 – may or may not have patients o Phlebotomy – peripheral blood draws only o IV/VAT Team o Resource Nurse – as available o RT, 24/7 o Hospitalist, 24/7 o Intensivist, 24/7 o Telemetry monitoring/tech? No monitoring tech; nurses read monitors and respond Technology/Equipment: o EMR: EPIC o IV Pump: Alaris o Med dispensing: Omnicell o Monitors: Phillips Floating: If yes, where? o Within region and scope of practice o Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable o Please see job posting for dedicated region and discuss the region that applies (will change per requisition) Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises Region 2 - Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division (CMC Main + CMC Mercy + Levine Children’s Hospital) Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH) If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock) Orientation (facility and unit) : o NEO o 2 days departmental Scheduling: o Weekend rotation: every other o No call for travelers o Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays o RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours Other notes: o Scrub Color: Navy o Parking: Free
