Med/Tele RN: 2 years Med/Tele exp (Resource Team) o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Not preferred but will consider (Resource Team) Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: o *Travelers will most often be hired as Med/Tele RN to cover ED Holds* o Trauma level 1 – GSW, Stabbing, MVA, Falls, Stroke, Heart Failure, Chest pain, patient requiring fluid resuscitation/blood products, COPD, Cardiac Cath pre, ETOH/CIWA, IVDA, mental health, Respiratory illnesses, GI Disorders and infections, Liver Failure, AKI/CKD Patient Ratios: o *Travelers will most often be hired as Med/Tele RN to cover ED Holds* o RN: 1:5 max (acuity dependent) o CNA: 1:7 Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance: o Med/Tele RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement) Skills required: o Med/Tele RN: General Med/Tele skillset: Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc), PCA pumps Medication gtt management to include: Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF Support within the Department: o CNA – ratios vary o Receptionist/HUC o Charge nurse, 24/7 – may or may not have patients o Phlebotomy – peripheral blood draws only o IV/VAT Team o Resource Nurse – as available o RT, 24/7 o Hospitalist, 24/7 o Intensivist, 24/7 o Telemetry monitoring/tech?
