RN Neonatal ICU We do our schedule in a 6 week block. It can vary depending on our census and our staff needs. We generally will not have them switch between day and night within the week because we know that can be a struggle.

The only time they might do a day and the next shift it will be a night is during orientation so they can get in their hours. Years of experience REQ: 2 Yrs average ratio: 1:2-4 First-timers accepted: Y Weekend REQ: Every other Certs REQ: BLS, NRP Is on-call REQ? N Will clinician float within scope to meet facility needs?

  • Traveler must have experience with IV's, central lines, OG/NG feeds, phlebotomy skills Hospital Highlights Type of Facility: Short Term Acute Care Level I Trauma Center Total Staffed Beds: 1,567 Charting: Epic Parking Cost: $125/month NNICU Medication Assessment – What to Expect As part of unit orientation, NNICU travelers will complete a basic medication competency assessment to ensure readiness for safe medication administration in the neonatal setting. The assessment is PASS/FAIL and generally includes:
  • Approximately 10 multi-part medication calculation questions.
  • The Five Rights of Medication Administration.
  • Basic dosage calculations using the formula Desired ÷ Have × Quantity.
  • Calculating total daily doses in mg or mL.
  • Breaking a daily dose into individual doses (e.g., calculating the amount to administer every hour or every few hours based on the ordered frequency).
  • Determining the correct amount of medication to administer based on the provider's order. Travelers should come prepared to perform medication calculations independently. If there are any questions or areas that need clarification during orientation, travelers are encouraged to ask the educator for guidance.
