Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
Cardiac and Vascular Care: MI, post-operative open-heart surgery (including TAVR and fem-pop bypass within 24 hours), pre- and post-op open-heart patients (24-48 hours post-op), cardiac arrhythmias, Tikosyn therapy, pacemakers, ICDs, and PCU-level patients (requiring higher care but not ICU criteria). Also includes post-cardiac catheterization patients (both femoral and radial approaches with TR bands), carotid and thoracotomy patients transitioning from ICU, microvascular flap procedures (typically not assigned to travelers due to low patient volume), and amputations related to vascular complications.
Cardiac Telemetry: Chest pain evaluation, stress testing, heart catheterization, arrhythmia management, percutaneous interventions, and pacemaker upgrades.

Skills required:
Able to care for cardiovascular patient, identify, interpret rhythms, epidurals, chest tubes
Cardiac Drip Management: nitro, heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, dopamine (fixed ), dobutamine (fixed )

Support within the Department:
CNA: 2-4 per shift
Free Floating Charge Nurse
Flex Nurse 0700-1930 - Helps with admissions and discharges. They also function as a resource to help with tasks and can transport monitored patients to other areas.

RT 24/7
Cardiologist on-call 24/7
Tele tech: 2 per shift

Philips monitors portable and bedside

ICU - to cover overflow assignment
Orientation:

2 12-hour shifts of unit orientation
Scheduling:
Weekend rotation: Every other
No on call, able to pick up extra shift if interested.
Holiday Expectations: 2 of 3 holidays can be expected
Approval of RTO: to go through manager
Shift times: 0700-1930, 1900-0730
Schedule cycle: We consider preference, we do not guarantee a set schedule, we can accommodate block scheduling if needed. Schedules are set in 6-week periods and are provided 2 weeks before the start of each schedule cycle.
