Current BLS certification by the American Heart Association standards required.
Experience Required: 2 years experience required in OR, Trauma. Additional Comments: Travelers may be required to float to the needs of the organization up to their competency level. May be required to work major holidays and pick up one additional shift during schedule period. Renown has the right to call off, without penalty, 48 hours, for low census per 13-week contract. This may be full or partial shifts. Schedule varies based upon department needs. Schedule can include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts. Hospital Information: Extremely busy and fast paced environment serving a 500-mile radius. Level 2 trauma center, Stroke accreditation, 800 inpatient bed hospital, 80 ER beds. The volume and pace required to work here are that of level 1 trauma center Hiring Profile: Position Purpose This position provides patient care of technical nature. The technologist is responsible for supplying the operating room with the proper equipment and instrumentation thats needed for specific surgery. During the procedure the primary responsibilities of the technologist is to maintain the sterility of the surgical field, to anticipate the needs of the surgeons, passing instruments in a timely fashion. Under direct supervision the technologist may be asked to perform the following duties such as, but not limited to: Sponge or suction, hold retractors or instrument placed by the surgeons, applies electrocautery to clamps on bleeders, irrigation to the operative sight, cuts suture material, connects drains to the suction apparatus, applies dressings to the wound. Once the procedure is completed it is the responsibility of the technologist to care for the instrumentation, equipment and prepare for the following case.This position will provide any assistance needed to expedite the room turnover thereby, providing optimum customer service to the surgeon, patient, anesthesiologist, and co-workers. Nature and Scope This position serves a patient population of Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric.This training this position provide technical skills as a member of the surgical team, communicating with supervisors, other surgery staff, surgeons, and anesthesiologists. The demands on this position are very dynamic because of rapid changes in medical procedures, technical knowledge, instrumentation, equipment, policies, procedures, and because of surgeons preferences in equipment, instruments, needles, and suture. This position the type of equipment and supplies required for the surgical care of the patient relative to the surgeons preference cards and knowledge of the procedure, and to identify any breakdown in aseptic technique and take appropriate action. This position ensures equipment is working properly before surgical procedure, cares for equipment after procedure, and is responsible for reporting equipment that is not working properly or is broken. Other related duties, flexible hours, and overtime may be required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 1. Demonstrates behavior consistent with the Renown Health Values. 2. Basic hand-eye coordination. 3. Skills for providing patient care of technical nature under the supervision of a registered nurse. 4. Skills for performing scrub duties, which facilitate the work of the surgeon. 5.
