Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join its Operating Room team in Needham. This is a full-time opportunity within a collaborative, family-centered perioperative environment. The Surgical Technologist will prepare and maintain the sterile field, organize instruments and supplies, and provide direct support to surgeons and circulating nurses throughout surgical procedures.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare, organize, and arrange sterile instruments and surgical suppliesPass sterile instruments and supplies to the surgical team during proceduresMaintain the sterile field and follow infection-prevention standardsAnticipate the needs of surgeons and other members of the operating room teamAssist circulating nurses with maintaining adequate sterile suppliesCollect and remove contaminated instruments and materials after proceduresSupport room turnover and preparation for subsequent surgical casesCollaborate with nurses, surgeons, anesthesia staff, and other perioperative team membersParticipate in required short-call coverageQualificationsAt least one year of Surgical Technologist experience is preferredPediatric operating room experience is preferredStrong understanding of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and operating room proceduresAbility to work 10-hour shifts and participate in short-call requirementsStrong communication, organization, and teamwork skillsCandidates must meet at least one of the following
Hold a certificate from an accredited Surgical Technologist programHave been employed as a Surgical Technologist in a surgical facility on or before July 1, 2013Have completed a surgical technology training program through the U. S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or U.
S. Public Health ServiceSign-On BonusA $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible full-time hires who have more than one year of direct operating room experience as a Surgical Technologist and have not worked for Boston Children’s Hospital within the past two years.
