Dress will be per LHC Policy 6.013 All new employees will be informed of the Dress Code Policy during orientation. 2. At all times employees must use reason and good judgment in their appearance grooming and attire. LHC Group is a professional health care organization. 3. Portraying a professional image and having a professional appearance is required in the delivery of services to the public including patients and other health care providers as well as in our business dealings with third parties. 4. The employee identification badge must be worn above the waist at all times with the employees name and photograph clearly visible. 5. All staff will wear appropriate professional attire suited for their job or patient care discipline. The appearance standards for all staff are as follows: a. Apparel will be clean and fit appropriately. Clothes will be free of wrinkles tears stains and odor of any kind. b. No outerwear (sweaters jackets scarves or hats) will be worn that are not approved through this policy. c. When movement occurs bare skin should not be visible between pants and top garment. d. Shorts of any length are not permitted. e. Shoes must be clean and professional. f. Personal hygiene must be maintained. g. Hair shall be clean well-groomed and modest in color. h. Facial hair must be trimmed and kept clean. Employees will not wear strong scented perfume cologne or after-shave lotion as these products may have adverse effects on patients visitors and other employees. Visible body piercing other than earrings will not be excessive and worn in accordance with this Policy. Other visible body piercings must be minimal and will not be disruptive to patient care and will not present a potential safety or infection risk. k. While body art and tattoos are allowed we expect our employees to maintain a professional working environment for employees customers and visitors. Therefore body art and tattooing that is excessive and/or offensive in nature is not allowed. l. The company reserves the right to determine if an employees body piercing body art or tattoo is a risk excessive or offensive in nature. If it is deemed to be a risk excessive or offensive in nature the employee will be asked to keep the piercing body art or tattoo covered while at work. If it is visible while at work after the employee has been notified disciplinary action may be warranted up to and including termination. All staff responsible for delivering patient care having direct hands-on patient contact will wear scrubs polo type shirts with slacks or uniforms. The designation of direct hands-on patient contact is intended to include those employees whose hands come into direct contact with the patients skin as part of their routine job duties. Administrative staff that are also responsible for delivering patient care will adhere to these standards listed when patient care is being delivered. The dress code for direct hands-on caregivers is as follows: a. Scrub top and bottoms or polo type shirts and dress slacks are acceptable uniforms. Company approved shirts with the agency logo may also be worn. b. Scrub shirt and uniform colors are determined by facility leaders and the color is standardized based on the facility location. c. Undershirt if worn must be solid in color and coordinated with the scrubs or polo type shirt. d. Short sleeved undershirts must not extend beyond the scrub top or polo type shirt sleeves and the bottom of the undershirt must not extend below the bottom of the scrub top or polo type shirt. e. Long-sleeved undershirts or turtlenecks may be worn under the scrub top or polo type shirt but the bottom of the shirt must not extend below the bottom of the scrub top or polo type shirt. f. Shoes must be clean and in good repair. Athletic shoes are acceptable. Sandals open toe shoes flip flops are not acceptable. CROCS without holes may be worn as long as the shoe has a heel strap that is used to secure the shoe on the foot. g. Necklaces bracelets and rings are prohibited if they pose a safety risk. Hair shall be clean well groomed and worn in such a manner that it will not interfere with patient care or make contact with patients or equipment. Beards will also be of appropriate length to promote safety for self and patients. i. Fingernails will be short clean neatly manicured and not extend past the fingertips.
