As Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supporting the Neurosurgery Spine and Cranial operating room services, you will provide clinical supervision and unit coordination to promote a cohesive team, effective care, and improved treatment outcomes. With an emphasis on professional development and success, you will encourage caregivers to enhance their skills and the patient experience through improvement initiatives and incentives. This position offers an opportunity to gain extensive leadership experience while continuing to provide the highest level of support and care possible. A caregiver in this position works days + on-call shifts from 6:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Supervise and coordinate unit clinical operations. Provide patient care. Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit caregivers and other departments/units. Ensure continuity of patient care information between shifts. Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, transfers, and other operational issues. Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers. Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of caregivers, counsel caregivers on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions, and monitor attendance issues. Counsel employees on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions, and collaborate in monitoring attendance issues. Interview, select, and orient new caregivers. Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage of all shifts. Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes, studies, and research initiatives. Assume responsibilities of the Nurse Manager in their absence. Provide clinical, operational, and personnel leadership for Neurosurgical services, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care across all phases of the perioperative continuum. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing leaders, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and operational efficiency for complex neurosurgical procedures. Support the development, onboarding, competency validation, and ongoing professional growth of nursing and surgical technology caregivers within the Neuro service line. Monitor performance metrics, quality indicators, patient safety events, and regulatory requirements; develop and implement action plans to drive continuous improvement. Facilitate daily staffing and resource allocation to ensure appropriate coverage, caregiver engagement, and effective patient flow. Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives, standardization efforts, and implementation of evidence-based practices to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency. Serve as a coach and mentor to caregivers, fostering accountability, professional development, and a culture of collaboration and excellence. Maintain specialized knowledge of neurosurgical procedures, equipment, technology, and emerging trends to support clinical practice and operational readiness. Assist with budget stewardship, supply utilization, capital equipment planning, and vendor management within the Neuro service line. Participate in off-shift leadership support, departmental committees, and organizational initiatives as needed.
