Find your calling at Mercy! The Cardiac Sonographer – Lead performs a variety of diagnostic and interventional procedures assisting in diagnosing and monitoring a wide range of medical conditions. This role requires proficiency and thorough understanding of operating imaging equipment and procedures while ensuring patient safety and maintaining imaging standards.

Responsibilities also include serving as lead when direct leadership is unavailable, coordinating daily work assignments and assisting in training. Effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals is essential for providing optimal care. Position Details:

Graduate of a school of Sonography and completed required clinical hours OR received on the job training by a Preceptor who is registered in Cardiac ultrasound.

Two (2) years of relevant experience OR graduate of Bachelor degree program.

State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice. Certification: ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI(RCS); Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:Ability to lead and motivate a team, manage schedules, and coordinate daily operations. Capability to make informed decisions regarding imaging procedures, patient care, and team management. Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, such as performing imaging procedures while supervising team members.

Knowledge in proficiency producing diagnostic images with the ability to recognize technical abnormalitiesKnowledge of a variety of advanced procedures as applicableKnowledge of safe & proper machine operation, machine emergency procedures and radiation safety procedures. Knowledge of protocols and ability to make adjustments as neededStrong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Physical

  • Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
