AHMG Rothman Orthopedics at Orange City 1061 Medical Center Dr., Suite 304, Orange City, FL Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm may travel to cover other Rothman practices as needed Obtains pre-certification for prescription drugs. Makes pre-operative calls to discusses discharge plans, obtains patient information, and answers questions. Makes post-operative calls within two weeks of surgery, using clinical judgment to direct care based on shared information.
Previews charts pre-operatively, documenting pertinent information including surgical clearances. Collates, distributes, and discusses post-op discharge instructions with patients and referring physicians. Discusses patient care and necessary home equipment with homecare nurses and arranges medical supplies.
Assists medical assistants in maintaining patient flow and reviews physician schedules. Performs patient intake and conducts physical examinations. E-Prescribes, writes (with physician's signature), faxes, and/or phones in prescriptions per practice protocols.
Examines post-operative patients and performs wound checks for infections. Assists physician at collegiate and professional sporting events and providing field coverage. Other duties as assigned.
Assists during hospital rounds and liaises between physician and outside consulting physicians. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Medical Office procedures and medical terminology [Required] Computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office [Required]
