Eligible clinicians have the opportunity to earn salary increases of up to 20%* through our Clinical Ladder Program based on experience, professional development, and achievement of advancement criteria. Clinical Ladder participation is voluntary. Salary adjustments are determined by program eligibility, advancement level, and organizational guidelines.

We perform a full array of cardiovascular surgeries including bypass, valve replacement/repair, TAVR, heart transplant, lung transplant, multiorgan transplant, VAD insertions, Impella transplant, ECMO and pediatric congenital heart procedures. Ventricular assist device, Impella insertion, Aortic aneurysm repair & aortic dissectionThe thoracic line has 3 OR’s, one equipped with a Davinci XI robot. A variety of lung esophageal, and chest procedures are done including HIOC (heated intraoperative chemotherapy) cases for mesothelioma.

We performed over 3,600 Cardiovascular and thoracic specific surgeries last year. Our Cardiovascular program is recognized as an ELSO Center of excellence for both adults and pediatrics, has a Nationally accredited TAVR program, and our heart transplant team is ranked 5th in the nation.13 Surgeons

Full Time (40) hours a week

DaysMaintains good relationships with physicians, management, other departments, and staff, and investigates and responds to complaints in a timely manner. Actively participates in Cardiothoracic Service Line Performance Improvement projects and completes at least one project annually to improve outcomes and quality for Cardiothoracic patients. Supports customer and employee satisfaction activities of the organization.

Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and keeps the circulating nurse informed of any needs throughout a procedure. Assists the team with safe and appropriate operating room turnover times in an efficient and organized manner. Directs ancillary personnel participating in room turnover and provides assistance and support as needed to members of the surgical team.

Supervises other healthcare team members in the surgical environment and assists with orientation, training, and education of new personnel. Promotes a safe environment, takes appropriate action in emergency situations, and identifies and reports environmental concerns to management. Follows CDC isolation guidelines, uses PPE appropriately, performs hand washing according to policy, and monitors aseptic technique of the entire surgical team.

Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department. Ensures all supplies, equipment, and medications are assembled prior to the procedure. Performs other duties as assigned.
