The Department of Spiritual Health an Education at the UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC is currently looking for a dedicated, passionate, and highly caring clinical chaplain to join the chaplaincy team.
The department has robust ACPE CPE and clinical chaplaincy programs. The clinical chaplain will provide the highest quality of spiritual care to patients, family members and the staff focusing on the emergency and critical care needs at UNC Hospitals during the night shift. This is a nighttime position dedicated to providing spiritual care to the patients, family members, and staff in the Emergency Department, critical care areas and respond to requests via the on-call pager.
The chaplain must have a passion for providing crisis care and working night shifts. The clinical chaplain will also provide care to non-acute areas as requested. The
will include developing spiritual care and professional relationships with night shift employees. The chaplain will communicate with nursing leadership to assess the most critical spiritual needs during their shifts, participate in department and hospital wide committees, provide documentation for patient encounters, provide 24 hour back-up coverage in rotation with other spiritual care staff members, lead worship services in the hospital chapel when requested, teach didactics within the Department of Spiritual Health and Education and in the hospital community, serve as a mentor to a CPE resident, complete administrative tasks, and other assigned task according to the spiritual needs of the institution.
The work week schedule will be three twelve-hour shifts on Monday - Wednesday and another four hours overlapping with the day shift to be negotiated, unless otherwise specified due to institutional care needs. Other Information Other information: Education
• Master's degree in Divinity (M. Div.) or equivalent degree from an accredited seminary or university. • Graduation from accredited college and seminary with four (4) units of ACPE CPE, faith group endorsement. Licensure/Certification
• Board eligible by the Association of Professional Chaplains. Certification must be obtained within two years of hire. Professional Experience
