✓Requirements
Licensure
✓Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
Vascular Access Board Certification preferred.
Certifications
✓Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required.
Education
✓Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
Qualifications
✓Minimum of two years' experience in acute care nursing required.
✓New hires into the CN-C position have one year to meet CN-C criteria outlined in the Clinical Advancement Program handbook.
✓The CN-C is eligible to be promoted into the CN-D classification when criteria outlined in the Clinical Advancement Program handbook and job specifications outlined in CN-D job description are met.
✓Substantial knowledge of vascular access principles, standardized procedures, state and federal healthcare regulations and accreditation, performance improvement, quality, patient safety, evidenced-based clinical practice standards, medical staff structure, legal aspects of care, and nursing scope o
✓Demonstrates advanced competencies in vascular access practice and procedural nursing.
✓Skillfully adapts a variety of clinical settings.
✓Ability to apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus vascular access.
✓Works calmly and responds courteously when under pressure.
✓Ability to obtain cooperation and support from patients, families, and a variety of staff.
✓Knowledge and application of adult learning principles, management and utilize problem-solving methodologies in a proactive and creative manner.
✓use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program

Job Summary: The Clinical Nurse C-VAT (Vascular Access Team) demonstrates advanced nursing knowledge applicable to the specialty practice of vascular access nursing. Serves in two large Magnet Recognized tertiary academic medical centers with multiple hospital campuses (University Hospital, East Campus Hospital, Surgical Hospital, Children's Hospital) and ambulatory departments.
