(Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):$64.000 - $74.070 - $84.130 The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

The Clinical Educator facilitates the enhancement of nursing cognitive skills and competency for assigned areas. The clinical educator works collaboratively with the management team to maximize patient outcomes and clinical practice. This individual functions as an educator, leader, expert practitioner, mentor and consultant for nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

Supports the mission and values of the Medical Center, and acts as a role model relative to the Medical Center's Service Excellence Initiative. Required Qualifications5 Years related clinical experience. AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIREDCalifornia Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -REQUIREDPreferred QualificationsMaster's Degree in a related field.2 Years teaching or education position.

THIS POSITION IS SUPPORTING SURGICAL SERVICES. Other Qualification RequirementsBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), required. (Effective 7/1/2025 for New Hires or Transfers).

Current ACLS; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider, required (ED, ICU, Telemetry, PCU, Surgical Services: OR and PACU, and Procedural Areas: Cath Lab and IR). NVCI within 90 days of hire or transfer, required (ED only). Current PALS, required (ED only).

NIH SS within 90 days of hire or transfer, required (ED, ICU, PCU, PACU and Telemetry)ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate (Acute Care Oncology and PCU only) within 90 days of hire or transfer. Certification Specific to Specialty required or obtained within one (1) year of hire or transfer:Surgical Services (Surgery, PACU): CNOR (Certified Perioperative Nurse) or equivalent certificationCertifications Required for Other Specialties:ICU: CCRN (Critical Care RN) or equivalent certificationTelemetry and PCU: CCRN or PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse) or equivalent certificationAcute Care: Orthopedic Nurses Certification (ONC), Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification (CMSRN), or equivalent certificationEmergency: CCRN or CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) or equivalent certificationProcedural Areas (IR and Cath Lab): CCRN, RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) or CRN (Certified Radiology Nurse) or equivalent certificationEssential FunctionsThe position characteristics reflect the most important duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job in a fully competent manner.

Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.2.

Educational Development and Training of Staff* Design and develop educational content tailored to the specific needs of nursing staff working in the designated department.* Develop and update training modules on advanced technologies, best practices, and patient safety protocols using evidence-based practice; ensuring training materials cover key topics and competencies.* Provide both classroom and hands-on training for staff, students, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring the acquisition of essential skills and knowledge required for safe and effective unit practices.* Conduct simulations, demonstrations, and practice skills sessions.* Coordinate all new hire orientation.* Ensure timely completion of all staff annual competencies and new hire orientation documentation.* Conduct program evaluations that measure learning impact and outcomes against strategic goals and objectives of the health care setting to enhance the effectiveness of clinical care and employee performance.* Assesses learners’ progress and interprets appropriate information necessary to revise and/or adjust orientation, educational activities and teaching techniques, as needed.* Instructs and provides in-service education for new products, equipment, and changes or updates to nursing departmental orientation procedures.* Support house-wide educational initiatives as needed.3.

Implementation of Performance Improvement and Quality Initiatives* Serves on nursing and health care setting committees, as assigned, and develops and directs continuous quality improvement programs which achieve targeted patient quality of care outcomes.* Identify opportunities for improvement and collaborate with stakeholders to implement change projects4. Safety and Compliance* Promotes and monitors safety, infection control and performance standards in clinical area.* Maintains a safe, clean working environment.* Functions as an expert on hospital and regulatory standards.* Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure unit policies and procedures are updated timely and in alignment with best practices and evidence-based standards.* Deliver educational sessions on emergency protocols, infection control measures, and patient specific procedures specific to the environment.5.

Documentation* Function as an expert on electronic health record (EHR) documentation, including accurate documentation on care measures, interventions, & patient progress.* Teach EHR classes as appropriate.* Collaborate with education department, regulatory manager, and nurse informaticists regarding changes in documentation practice and education on EHR updates.6. Patient Care* Function as an expert clinician within the department, demonstrating competency in all unit practices, policies and procedures.* Model and reinforce best practices for nurses and other staff.* Attend emergency codes within the department (and hospital as appropriate).* Facilitate debriefing sessions and provide real-time education as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesTechnical

Proficient computer skills required. Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and willingness to learn other software packages as needed, required; Proficient in operating related equipment and technology as applicable to the department; Excellent organizational skills, required. Critical Thinking: Rapid decision-making skills in high-pressure environments; Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to dynamic cases.
