Job Requirements General Summary Provides and coordinates independent, patient-centered nursing care within a clinical specialty as a fully participating member of the multidisciplinary care team. Applies professional nursing standards, clinical expertise, and evidence-based practice to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care. Serves as a resource to colleagues and contributes to unit and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities Provide safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care to the procedural patient population. Practice independently using strong clinical knowledge, assessment skills, and evidence-based practices. Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and advocate for patients and families.
Serve as a clinical resource, preceptor, coach, and mentor to nurses, students, and support staff. Maintain required competencies and participate in professional development, education, and continuing education activities. Support quality improvement, research, evidence-based practice, and patient safety initiatives.
Identify and report safety risks, adverse events, and near misses and follow established policies and procedures. Participate in quality, regulatory, and compliance activities and contribute to departmental performance goals. Function effectively in charge nurse and other leadership roles as assigned.
Participate in staff meetings, team-building, shared governance, recruitment, retention, and other unit-based initiatives. Maintain effective communication and collaborative working relationships with patients, families, and team members. Work Experience Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.
Current AHA BLS certification required. Must meet all unit specific certifications BLS require, ACLS required, Annual UMMSU, Annual Competencies 2-3 years nursing experience. ICU experience preferred.
Must have critical thinking skills and ability to quickly and thoroughly assess patient condition. Previous experience administering and monitoring moderate sedation a plus. Flexibility in assignments needed in a fast-paced environment.

$37.75-$56.21 Other Compensation (if applicable): Shift Differential
